A. Letter of Introduction/Cover Letter

Written in a cover-letter format, please introduce yourself (limit to one page).

·         In what capacity do you serve students and/or educators?  List your education experiences, both past and present.

·         What key experiences/people have most impacted your teaching and learning?

·         What are your aspirations for your continued work in the education profession?

B. Questions for Written Response

Your writing will be shared with the instructors of the Masters of Education program so that they may become more familiar with you.  Please compose your answers in the following format:

·         Use of a word-processing program; a 12-point readable font with one-inch margins.

·         Please number and include each question before your response.

·         Single space paragraphs with double spacing between paragraphs.

·         Adhere to the conventions for professional writing.

·         Limit your four responses to no more than three pages.

Question #1 – Share one professional resource you find most useful in your current teaching and why.

Question #2 – Consider what you know about effective leadership in schools.  Tell us about the leadership skills you will bring to a cohort of educators. 

Question #3 – Locate a professional periodical/journal article that you find significant in your current practice.  Summarize its content and reflect on its importance.  Feel free to respectfully challenge or question the author(s)s.  Locate and share specific quotes that hold significance for you.  Please include parenthetical citations according to APA guidelines.  An APA reference should be included at the end of your writing.

Question #4 – Provide the names, contact inforation, and job titles for two references who will write a letter of recommendation.

Step 4: Letters of Recommendation

Request a letter of recommendation from two individuals who can speak to your abilities in the education profession.  Each Letter of Recommendation should be submitted within two weeks of your submission of application. Have the letters sent directly to Dr. Sue Evanich, Midland University, 900 N. Clarkson, Fremont, NE 68025.

Step 5: Phone/Skype Interview

After receiving all pieces of your application, we will contact you to set up a personal admissions interview and discuss your interest in the Master of Education in Leadership in Teaching and Learning program.

Step 6: Acceptance

Upon acceptance you will receive a letter from Midland University.
