Are you ready to build your skills for the future?

The first step in applying to Midland University is the online application. Here, you will start to tell us more about your background, and you will create a login to upload all your supporting documents and see your admissions status at any point.

Online Application
MEd applicants should complete the graduate application.
ESL Endorsement students should complete the non-degree application.
HAL Endorsement students should complete the non-degree application.

You will begin by creating an account and verifying it via email. The online application will ask for your contact information, details about your employment and academic history, and two references. Once you have submitted this information, you’ll be asked to upload the materials described below.

M.Ed. Application Documents

Cover Letter

Applicants should submit a written cover letter, introducing themselves by answering the questions below:

  • In what capacity do you serve students and/or educators? List your education experiences, both past and present.
  • What key experiences/people have most impacted your teaching and learning?
  • What are your aspirations for your continued work in the education profession?

Written Response Questions

Your writing will be shared with the instructors of the Masters of Education program so that they may become more familiar with you. Please write your answers in single-spaced paragraph style, with a 12-point readable font. Limit your four responses to no more than three pages, and please number and include each question before your response.

  • Share one professional resource you find most useful in your current teaching and why.
  • Consider what you know about effective leadership in schools. Tell us about the leadership skills you will bring to a cohort of educators.
  • Locate a professional periodical/journal article that you find significant in your current practice. Summarize its content and reflect on its importance. Feel free to respectfully challenge or question the author(s). Locate and share specific quotes that hold significance for you, including the parenthetical citations according to APA guidelines. An APA reference should be included at the end of your writing.

Letters of Recommendation

Request a letter of recommendation from two individuals who can speak to your abilities in the education profession. Contact information for these references will be requested within the application.

Official Transcripts

Please send official transcripts showing your bachelor's degree to the Admissions Office, 900 North Clarkson, Fremont, NE 68025. Electronic transcripts are acceptable, as long as they are officially issued from the registrar of your university.

Program Interview

After receiving all pieces of your application, we will contact you to set up a personal admissions interview and discuss your interest in the Master of Education program.

Cover Letter

Applicants should submit a cover letter to help us get to know you and understand why you are interested in Midland's ESL Endorsement.  It should address the topics below in no more than two pages.

1. Tell us why you are interested in earning an ESL Endorsement from Midland University. 
2. Tell us how you plan to use an ESL Endorsement.
