Overview

Why the Midland M.Ed.?

The Midland University Master of Education is designed for full-time teachers who are ready to grow into new roles within their school or district.  Throughout the program, we strive to help students become content experts in their classrooms through our coursework that helps students build skills that can be taken back to school immediately.

Our program offers a unique opportunity to earn a master's degree while also pursuing an area of emphasis. During year one, students complete 18 credits of core coursework. The second year is comprised of courses related to the specific area of emphasis pursued and a capstone experience.  Credits for the area of emphasis vary by program.

Flexible Class Structure

Designed around a teacher’s demanding schedule, most of our programs are offered completely online (NBCT only offers the hybrid schedule) with asynchronous course work througout. Modules run on a schedule Monday through Sunday, with the bulk of assignments due on Sunday to allow for a teacher's demaning schedule.

Experienced Faculty

Learn from Midland’s faculty who are experts in their field and have multiple years of combined K-12 teaching and leadership experience in education.  Througout the online courses, faculty challenge student thinking, and allow students to share authentic experiences to enrich learning to strengthen the quality and meaning of the online discussions and assignments. They provide the necessary resources and commitment to help students understand both the theory and the application of course content.

Capstone Experience

The school-based capstone experience helps students to synthesize coursework, classroom experiences, and research findings throughout their program of study and will be presented to interested and supporting stakeholders.
